May Project of the Month

Peter and Kim’s family room had a typical floor plan seen in most homes in Southern California. A large alcove that housed the TV and its components on a table with bins underneath to store games, music and DVDs.

Before custom cabinets

Woodwork Creations designer, Jim, helped them design an entertainment center to specifically meet their needs. The cabinet was finished in Dark Fruitwood, which added warmth and richness to the room.

The cabinet design included plenty of storage with both raised panel doors and speaker doors, with drawers and adjustable shelves to hold their components. A vertical drawer on each side of the TV was added to store DVD’s. Above the TV, an open display shelf with LED lighting is the perfect place to show of family photos.

Peter and Kim also wanted to enhance the brick fireplace that sits adjacent to the Entertainment Center. So using the same Dark Fruitwood stain, a mantel with applied fluting was the perfect addition to complete the room. The mantel now provides space to display more family photos, artwork and candles.
